1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use Chef AI:

• Account information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and optionally your name and email address.
• Photos: Images you take of your fridge, pantry, or freezer are sent to our servers for ingredient identification. These images are processed and not stored permanently.
• Health and fitness data: If you connect Apple Health, we access step count, active calories burned, and body mass to improve your calorie recommendations. This data is never shared with third parties.
• Usage data: We collect information about how you use the app including recipes generated, meals logged, and features used to improve the product.
• Device information: Device type, iOS version, and a device token for push notifications.
• Onboarding information: Goals, dietary preferences, allergies, height, weight, and household information you provide during setup.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate personalized recipes based on your ingredients and goals
• Calculate and display your daily calorie and macro targets
• Send push notifications about expiring ingredients and meal reminders
• Track your savings from cooking at home
• Improve recipe quality and app performance
• Provide customer support
• Process subscription payments through Apple's App Store

3. AI and Data Processing

Chef AI uses Anthropic's Claude AI to analyze food images and generate recipes. When you scan your fridge, the image is temporarily transmitted to our secure servers for processing. Images are analyzed and then discarded — we do not maintain a permanent database of your food photos.

Recipe generation prompts include your dietary preferences, goals, and ingredient lists but do not include personally identifiable information.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:

• Anthropic: For AI-powered ingredient scanning and recipe generation (images and ingredient data only)
• Apple: For payment processing, Sign in with Apple, and push notifications
• MongoDB Atlas: For secure database storage of your account and preferences
• Law enforcement: If required by law or to protect the safety of our users

5. Health Data

Chef AI is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. All nutrition and calorie information is for general wellness purposes only. The app uses clinically validated formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor equation) for calorie calculations but individual results vary. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have a medical condition.

Health data accessed through Apple Health is used solely to improve your calorie recommendations within the app and is never shared with third parties.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS for all data transmission and secure token-based authentication.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at hello@usechefai.com.

7. Children's Privacy

Chef AI requires users to be at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at hello@usechefai.com and we will delete that information.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings
• Disconnect Apple Health integration at any time through the app settings
• Cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store

9. Cookies and Tracking

Chef AI is a mobile application and does not use cookies. We do not use third-party advertising networks or tracking pixels.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Chef AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
